Over a period of three years, the USAID/Nicaragua Organizational Development of Nicaraguan Civil Society Program or also known as the ISP or the Institutional Strengthening Project worked in Managua, provided training and support to 30 civil society organizations in Nicaragua. Nicaraguan leaders of several civil society organizations and their partners met and engaged on an individual basis with each of the 30 organizations to assist with development within their own timeframes. The mission of the USAID/ Nicaragua program is to connect with and contribute to local civil society partners.
These organizations in Nicaragua come from such diverse areas as human rights, education, women business owners and at-risk youths. The focus of the USAID Nicaragua program is chiefly governability and leadership, strategic planning, management structures and procedures, strategic communication and alliance building. USAID assisted, knowing the impact these organizations can have on Nicaragua and its society.
